David Austin roses are hugely popular. Especially when it comes to wedding flowers. The roses were originally intended as garden roses. You probably know the shrubs and trees. The roses are then lush and have flower-shaped petals. The rose became more popular and people also wanted to have this rose in the vase indoors. The David Austin roses did just that. The luxury and elegance of garden roses, brought into people's homes, including this popular soft pink rose: Keira.
The Keira rose
The rose consists of numerous rose petals that fill the rose. When the rose is fresh, the rose still looks a bit small. Cut off a few centimetres from the stem and put the rose on fresh water in a clean vase. You will see that the Keira rose opens like a peony opens. The entire bud unfolds sight and once open you have a huge rosebud! The rose petals have a soft cream colour at the stem, also described by the grower as the colour of vanilla ice cream. The colour then soon changes to a very soft pink blush colour. The soft pink colour makes the rose so suitable for bridal arrangements. However, the colour can vary from rose to rose. This is because the intensity of the soft pink colour depends on the amount of sun the rose has seen.
The difference from a classic rose
David Austin roses do differ from the classic soft pink rose, and it's not just in appearance that there is a lot of difference. The origin of the rose, the vase life, the size of the bud etc. Below we show you some of the differences, we take the Sweet Revival rose as an example, to compare this rose with. Comparable roses
Roses very similar to the David Austin roses are, for example, peonies, or roses from Ecuador. The similarities between these roses are mainly the numerous rose petals and the shape of the rosebud and petals. Look, for example, at the soft pink peony: Sarah Bernhardt. Apart from the shape, the colour of the rose also comes hugely close. That the shape is enormously close to the Keira rose is also the case with roses from Ecuador, although those colours are definitely different and a lot brighter. Roses from Ecuador come in purple, pink, white and salmon.
Why order the Keira rose?
The Keira rose is a very exclusive rose. The rose is in a slightly more expensive segment because the roses are very fragile due to the conditions. There is also a lot of work involved in growing the rose, the growers are constantly monitoring the growth and quality of the rose. The roses are gorgeous, elegant and exclusive. Want to celebrate a special occasion? A wedding, an anniversary or an important birthday? Then a bouquet of these roses is perfect to put on the table.
